Assaggetti Italiano
At Assaggetti we never forget about our food’s homeland across the Channel, so we like to take a look at some Italian events and culture that you can find in London. There’s a place where you can get your fill of Italy all year round: the Italian Cultural Institute in Knightsbridge! The location has events running all year round, with an incredible variety of different things to do and see.
First off although we know all about the famous Renaissance artists such as Michelangelo and Donatello, the Italian contemporary art scene is bursting with talent and innnovation. As an example of that there’s the exhibition of the Strata series from the Roman artist Quoyala. Using digitization techniques, Quoyala breaks down traditional images and architecture and layers them anew, creating new and intriguing pieces with deep levels using the essences of what he has digitized.
The exhibition runs until November 27th this year, so if you’re an art aficionado you may want to take a look. Click here for more information.

For those aspiring artists, or anyone who simply wants to give it a try, there are also drawing classes on offer at the institute starting next week! To quote the description on the website,
“The course will focus on the elements for the construction of a front module and reworking of the pictorial - graphic work. The goal is to give the student a correct knowledge of the construction of a human face and the ability to revise their work through light and shadow with pencils, charcoals, watercolors.”
From the detailed explanation, it seems a good course for anyone wanting to develop or improve their skills at portrait drawing.
Find all the details here

Finally for classical music fans we have a recital from the talented and experienced Luigi Basco.
Luigi Basco. Having played extensively at over 20 prestigious venues all over Italy over the past few years, he comes over to the Italian Cultural Institute on 19th August. Full details about this event here.

These are just a few of the many events the Institute runs throughout the year. Head directly to the site for more Italian cinema, art and music!
Let us know if you manage to venture over to the Institute! Assaggetti will definitly be heading down to get a little taste of Italy!

Masters of Style: Celebrating the Stories behind Italian Fashion

Assaggetti are so excited that Somerset House are hosting ‘Masters of Style’ - an exhibition representing Italian style in its purest form, highlighting exactly what fashion is about from the most influential fashion houses: Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Ferragamo, Gucci, Missoni and Prada. It has been created to celebrate the amazing stories behind Italian fashion and mark a momentous occasion in Italian history – the 150th anniversary of Italy’s Unification.
Hand-picked images from the respective designer’s collections and archives will be featured, bringing to life iconic style moments and offering an insight into the passion and influences behind their work. Each collection of photographs is housed in temporary 'pavilions' in the Embankment Galleries.
This exhibition is curated by Peroni Nastro Azzurro in partnership with fashion commentator Colin McDowell and Somerset House in the South Wing, Embankment Galleries until 14th August and is one the fashionistas will NOT want to miss!
